Do you want to gain or lose weight ? Eating late increases hunger, decreases calories burned and alters storage fats. This was revealed by a study published in October 2022 in the journal Cell metabolism. It’s about a rscientific journal specializing in research on biology multiplied in the field of cellular biologyof the molecular biologyand some physiology.
This chrono-regime or chrono-nutrition is based on a very simple postulate: losing weight (or gaining weight) is not just about what you eat or number of calories that you consume, but also what time you eat. Know that the time you choose for dinner has a huge influence on weight loss.
Eating at the right times would help us lose weight
Depending on what time you eat, foods are assimilated in a different way and obviously this can have repercussions on the weight.
The reason ? Metabolic and hormonal changesregulated by a very punctual biological clock, at different times of the day, causing the absorption and elimination of fatscarbohydrates and sugars.
To lose weight, or at least not gain weight must therefore eat while respecting the rhythms of the body and, in simple terms, eat in the time slots when the person represented is the most active.
According to a new study, which the American journal Cell metabolism one published, eat after a certain time would be a very bad habit.
“eating late increases the risk of obesity”
” We wanted to test the mechanisms that may explain why eating late increases the risk of obesity explained Frank AJL Scheer of Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. And to add: “Research planned by us and others had shown that eating late was associated with risk of accumulation of obesity, increased body fat and less success with weight loss. We had to understand why”.
Doctors Frank AJL Scheer and Nina Vujovic and their team led this study with 16 people including thebody mass index (BMI) was located in the range of overweight or obesity.
Thereby, each participant followed two laboratory protocols: one providing for a strict meal schedule at the start of the day. And the other foreseeing exactly programs the same meals about four hours later.
The researchers concluded that having a late dinner favored the feeling of hunger while reducing the body’s calorie burn. Also, having a late dinner would lead to a hormonal imbalance and increase the risks of being overweight. Thus, to allow the human body to properly fulfill its role, it is necessary to dine as soon as possible.
So ? What is the ideal time?
Scientists have therefore split into two groups the participants in this study. The first had to have dinner relatively early, namely around 6 p.m., while the second shifted it by about four hours, around 10 p.m. Throughout the study, blood samples were taken and biopsies adipose tissue were made.
“Manger four hours later done a significant difference in the feeling of hunger and how we store fat,” said the experts.
The first observation of scientists very clear : ” Energy expenditure was significantly lower in late feeding conditions than in early feeding conditions“. In other words, the later people ate, the more their organism stored fat. They spent an average of 5% calories less than those who took their dinner earlier.
Dinner at 6 p.m. is therefore the perfect time to consider weight loss.
