While the wolf is regularly in the news in Franche-Comté and the attacks on the herds provoke the anger of the breeders, we inform you of an inventory of the stakes linked to the presence of the predator on our territory. Video.
The wolf was tracked for hundreds of years before being totally eradicated by humans in the 1930s. This emblematic animal of our countryside has always fueled heated debates, between fascination, anger and fear. At the time of writing, there are approximately 920 wolves in France according to the French Office for Biodiversity. Two packs, recognized by the public authorities, are found in Franche-Comté.
In the video [6’30] below, we will provide you with an inventory of the issues underlying the wolf issue in our region.
Between January and October 2022, 38 farm animals were killed by wolves in the Jura massif, according to the Doubs prefecture. Despite the slaughter of a wolf, the attacks resumed a few days later.
