Victim of dog trafficking, Zak, the husky disappeared in May, is found 155 km from his home

After three months of stress, waiting and hope, Zak’s family can breathe. Disappeared in May, this young husky just found thanks to an outpouring of solidarity. Light on this good news that warms the heart.

It is a highly sought after breed of dog traffickers and Zak into an unfortunate experience. Three months ago, this beautiful white and brown husky with odd eyes disappeared. A few days after its disappearance, the animal had been seen in the streets of Toulouse in the company of a homeless person. He seemed thin and damaged at the level of the pads.

In an attempt to recover his four-legged companion, Johan Guerrini, a 32-year-old Toulousain, filed a complaint with the gendarmerie. But no concrete action would have been taken. Zak’s owner told our brothers and sisters of France 3 that the police would have dissuaded him from looking for his animal, considering that “it was a waste of time”. And for good reason, each year in France, animal protection associations count nearly 75,000 announcements of the disappearance of dogs published on social networks.

A surge of solidarity

Finally, it is thanks to the mobilization of Internet users that Zak was found. This Monday, August 1, a petition was sent. In just 24 hours, she collected nearly 18,000 signatures. The day after this call, the Husky was found in Narbonne, in Aude, more than 155 kilometers from the place of his disappearance.

According to the owner, Zak was the victim of dog trafficking. Very popular with traffickers, husky dogs are worth nearly 1,500 euros.

The little survivor is currently welcomed in a shelter where he is receiving care and will be reunited with his family in the coming days.
