Valensole: a bird saved by drones

An emblematic species of the Valensole plateau, the Canepetière bustard has been on the verge of extinction for decades. “80% of the Bustard population has disappeared in 20 years,” explains Ghislaine Dusfour, project manager for steppe environments and species for the Conservatoire d’Espaces Naturels (CEN Paca). For two years, CEN Paca has put technology at the service of protecting this fragile environment with the help of John Plaetevoet, bird drone pilot at L’Avion Jaune, an aerial data company.
