Saturday September 24, 2022, from eight a.m., angry employees of Carrefour met in front of the Carrefour stores in Barentine and of Mont-Saint-Aignan. “It’s a strike that comes from the employees and not from the unions, it risks being very well attended. In Barentin, we expect 90% participation, ”says Gaëtan Couturier, CGT union representative at Carrefour Barentin.

An increase of 20 cents per month

As part of the mandatory annual negotiations, Carrefour management agreed to a 2% wage increase to cope with inflation. For Gaëtan Couturier, this is far from enough: “On minimum wage salaries, this represents 20 cents more per month while inflation is 6.5%. We are asking for an increase of 300 euros gross per month, that’s the minimum! »

“The time of the heroes of Covid-19 is long gone”

Lack of staff, working hours and difficult working conditions are also negative points noted by employees. “Emissions, accidents at work and burnouts follow one another. Gone are the days of everyday heroes during the Covid-19 pandemic…”, sighs Gaëtan Couturier.

The stores of Barentin and Mont-Saint-Aignan risk being very disrupted, Saturday September 24, 2022. This mobilization is part of a national movement.
