SNCF: a new single (and cheaper) fare for traveling with your pet

The new tariff offer, of which Capital echoes, concerns the TGV Inoui, the Intercités trains and the TER. For Ouigo trains, an “animal” option is also offered when booking, regardless of weight, at a single rate of 10 euros (compared to 15 euros previously). Guide dogs, of course, are not concerned, as they do not need a ticket to travel.

The SNCF website details the conditions under which the animal must travel. If it weighs less than 6 kg, it must be transported in a container on the owner’s knees or feet. The maximum dimensions of the box or bag are 45 by 30 by 25 cm. Over 6 kg, the animal must be muzzled (except guide dogs) and sit at the feet of its master.
