A dog was found in Drancy (Seine-Saint-Denis) in deplorable condition, Wednesday August 3, 2022. According to The Parisian, he had been locked up without food or water for three weeks, in the apartment of his master who had been absent. Arrested, he was taken into custody.
According to information from our colleagues, it was a bailiff, who came to evict the tenant who was no longer paying his rent, who discovered the animal and warned the Action Protection Animale association. The dog was taken to the vet immediately. His vital prognosis would still be engaged.
Home abandonment is on the rise
According The Parisian, abandonment on the side of the road or in the forest are well known. Those at home are less so. However, the latter tend to multiply this year due to a saturation of shelters, as the association called it to our colleagues.
Indeed, 2,590 animal abandonments were reported in Île-de-France between May 1 and July 27, report The Parisian. As a reminder, a person who abandons his animal incurs three years in prison and a fine of €45,000. A sentence that can climb to five years in prison and a fine of 70,000 euros in the event of the death of the animal.
