OM: the reasons for Dieng being sidelined by Tudor

Pushed towards the exit by Olympique de Marseille, Bamba Dieng does not appear in the plans of Igor Tudor. In its edition of the day, L’Equipe evokes the reasons … not completely lost.

Dieng is in the dark for OM

Marseille is not easy. While the management of Igor Tudor is contested by his players (read here), the new OM coach is also the target of criticism from Marseille supporters for the treatment of the promising Bamba Dieng.

More used by his coach after his hat-trick against Marignane (4-1), during the first preparation match, the 22-year-old striker has an uncertain future in Marseille. A difficult situation to understand for fans who appreciate the player’s attitude and his performance, not always perfect but interesting for a player of his age. But why doesn’t Tudor trust him?

Unsuitable profile and extra pounds…

In recent weeks, the Croatian has simply claimed that the Senegalese international was his fifth attacking choice, without giving further details. According to L’Equipe, the official version is that he does not appreciate his profile and would also blame him for the extra pounds. However, the Olympian coach never said this directly to his player, who is still awaiting explanations from the club side, as his agent explains (read here).

Not sure that these arguments will convince many people, starting with the winner of the last CAN. The African champion has been working with a physical trainer all summer to keep himself in shape and his profile seems no less suited to the style of Tudor than that of his attacking partners Arkadiusz Milik and Cdric Bakambu, to name a few. .

Dieng can carry over €15m

In this case, everything suggests that the reason is motivated more by economic than sporting reasons. Dieng has a good market value compared to the rest of the workforce, OM would like to recover around 15 million euros for an element under contract until 2024 and courted by Benfica or Fribourg. Anyway, the player wants to stay in Marseille despite his situation and hopes to reverse the trend.
