om | OM-Lens video: “I’m proud of the team”, says Igor Tudor

OM conceded a third consecutive defeat in Ligue 1 this Saturday evening, beaten 0-1 by Lens at the Vélodrome during the 12th day of the championship. Igor Tudor was at a press conference after the match.

What is your explanation in a game where you had a lot of chances but you didn’t score?
Igor Tudor: I will say what I said to the players. I saw them sad but I told them not to be. They must be proud. They had a great game. I think it was one of the three best games of the season. Football is not always something fair, correct and tonight it proved it: if there is a team that should win, I think it is ours that deserved the most.

Without falling into alarmism, are you worried about the future?
No, I’m proud of the team, proud of what they’ve done. They deserved more and now they have to keep their heads up and we go forward. We have a match in four days (in Frankfurt) to prepare.

Is it the lack of success that has changed compared to certain matches?
I don’t remember any matches we won without deserving. I don’t think tonight was luck or bad luck. I do not think so.

After three consecutive defeats in the league, how do you intend to reverse the trend with your players?
I will sign there to reproduce the same game we did. If we could play like this again, I think we would manage to win every Sunday. Everything we’ve done has to be done again and that’s the starting point for moving forward.

Why did you choose Pape Gueye to replace Sead Kolasinac?
I think he had a great game. As they played in 3-5-2, we only needed two defenders and he, in the end, played a little higher, almost like a midfielder.
