While everything seems to indicate that Vitinha will be PSG’s first summer signing, the deal is not yet fully effective with FC Porto. The dispute over the terms of payment of the Portuguese midfielder’s release clause has not been resolved according to Correio da Manha.
In just a few hours, the Vitinha track appeared in the press before being announced as completed almost unanimously by all sources. The final step seemed to have been taken after the player’s agent Jorge Mendes communicated to FC Porto that PSG would pay the 22-year-old midfielder’s €40m release clause by the end of the month. However, the two parties would not fully agree on the terms of payment of this sum according to the Correio da Manha.
Indeed, FC Porto would insist on collecting the 40 million euros from Vitinha’s release clause immediately, complicating matters. For its part, PSG would keep settling 20 million euros in the coming days and 20 million euros next summer. The Portuguese leaders refused this arrangement managed by Jorge Mendes, who requested payment of the full sum before July 1.
FC Porto still believe in Vitinha transfer
Even entangled in this situation, FC Porto still believe that Vitinha will be a PSG player by the end of the month, indicates the source deemed unreliable but having mentioned for the first time the Parisian club’s interest in Vitinha. To meet the requirement of the Portistas, a different method of financing had already been mentioned in the Portuguese press for the lifting of the clause of the 22-year-old player. A conclusion of the case is now expected in the coming days.
