Marseille: a man killed in broad daylight in front of a bakery

A few hours after the shots that occurred in the city of Castellas, having seriously injured a man in his twenties on the night of Saturday to Sunday, a man in his forties was shot dead this Sunday at the start of afternoon in front of a bakery in the poor neighborhoods of northern Marseille, informed AFP from a police source, confirming information from La Provence.

The facts occurred shortly before 2 p.m. in front of this business, where the victim suffered a dozen impacts, according to this source. According to La Provence, the victim was killed with a weapon of war by a commando “composed of two to three individuals who fled in a Peugeot 308”. The vehicle was eventually found burned down not far from the crime scene.

23 homicides since the beginning of the year

Known to justice, the man killed had no history related to drug trafficking. The regional daily indicates that an investigation has been opened and sent to the judicial police. “He was known to our services, the modus operandi actually suggests a settling of accounts,” explained the prosecutor of the Republic of Marseille, Dominique Laurens, questioned by AFP, specifying that he was not however possible to specify at this stage whether these facts have a link with drug trafficking.

According to a count made by AFP, 23 people have lost their lives in shooting homicides since the beginning of the year, most against a backdrop of rivalries to control the very lucrative drug trafficking, in the department of Bouches-du -Rhône, and more particularly in Marseille.
