Due to covid-19, the 2020 and 2021 editions of the Saint-Jean celebrations could not take place normally. The 2022 edition marks a return to normal.
Last Friday, at the Maison des Associations, the Lannemezan festival committee in the person of its president Sylvie Turon canceled committee volunteers, unveiled what the 2022 edition of the Saint-Jean celebrations will be. In the presence of Jean-Marie Da-Benta, the elected official in charge of animation and associations at the town hall of Lannemezan and the mayor Bernard Plano at the very beginning of the presentation.
This year, specifies the president, the will be spread over 5 days from Friday 24 to Tuesday 28 June. Sylvie Turon said she was very happy to reconnect with a full and complete edition of the holidays. Because, we remember, the two previous vintages had been, due to covid, cut off from all entertainment and festivities. Only the fairground had been able to take place, and it was the town hall that had managed the placement of the fairgrounds.
“For this edition of the holidays, indicates the president, for economic reasons, we have not solicited the merchants and our usual partners for the edition of the holiday program. The latter is included in the Lannemezan Mag which is distributed by the care of the town hall. Because the economic context is still difficult, we have also decided to call on groups and gangs from the department. It is therefore a 100% local party that we have canceled this year. However, despite the difficult economic context, we have the usual and great classics: the Friday fire parade, the handing over of the keys to the city, the Jacques Rousse fishing contest at the Half-moon, the concert of the musical society, the aperitif of the mayor on Sunday and on Monday the pétanque competition at the François Sarrat stadium, and of course at 10:45 p.m. the pyrotechnic show (fireworks) still at the François Sarrat stadium, and the carnival at a reduced rate on Tuesday “.
In addition, as part of the “Summer Show on the Plateau” summer festivities, the festival committee is offering on Wednesday July 13, in partnership with the Lannemezan merchants’ association, a large clearance sale from 10 a.m., followed by a night market. Which will precede the arrival on the stage of the Place du 14 Juillet of the group “Les Tontons givrés” with the program also bodegas, refreshments and catering on the square.
Jean-Marie Da-Benta, the deputy mayor, said he was happy to reconnect with the usual formula for the Saint-Jean celebrations, and congratulated the team of the festival committee for its commitment.
“The town hall and the committee, he said, worked together to provide our fellow citizens with festive and convivial moments like the previous Saint-Jean celebrations. The town hall, thanks to the granting of a grant is investing in these 4 days of celebrations also through the mobilization of the city’s technical services”.
The program (in Lannemezan Le Mag, the town hall magazine) is available at the town hall, at the Lannemezan tourist office and on the town’s Facebook.
