Laboratories deny any risk of paracetamol shortage

Will France really run out of Doliprane? On Wednesday, the National Medicines Safety Agency published a recommendation advising pharmacies to limit the delivery of paracetamol due to supply difficulties. Doctors have also been asked not to prescribe any more, unless there is an immediate need. This Friday, the main French laboratories wanted to be reassuring, indicating that no shortage was pointing the right way.

“Concerning Upsa, which monitors the stock status of its references (Dafalgan, Efferalgan) daily, no state of shortage has been observed”the laboratory told AFP. “The weekly monitoring put in place reports more than a month of stocks available in pharmacies on average for the paracetamol brands Dafalgan and Efferalgan.”
