“Miraculous! The whale is gone! Some said he was dying, lost, tide too low, we helped him and he understood! He put all his energy into getting back on track and with our help, he got there, it was magnificent!”

The animal, a fin whale a dozen meters long, seemed in very bad shape and the offshore towing operation attempted by the SNSM a few hours earlier had ended in failure. Too risky, too painful.

But the association did not let go, like the report France Blue Breizh Izel, to help the cetacean. She mobilized a dozen volunteers who, with the help of firefighters, dug a trench to allow her to return to the ocean more easily with the peak of high tide, at 1:30 a.m.

“Rorquals can live up to 100 years, but are sometimes victims of collision with a ship, of diseases. They can also die by swallowing plastic waste or pollutants ”, specify our colleagues.

According The Telegram, if the animal, very weakened, had not managed to return to sea, it would probably not have survived long. He would have died on the spot and would have been cut up before being evacuated.

On September 2, a whale of a good fifteen meters was found dead on the island of Sein, still in Finistère. Another had suffered the same fate a week later on a beach in Tréguennec, also located in this department.
