Inter dominate Fiorentina in Serie A in extremis

Inter Milan got scared on Saturday night against Fiorentina. At the end of an unbridled match, the Nerazzurri snatched victory in added time (4-3) after being caught twice in the score.

An ideal enemy polluted by a gross fault

Everything had started in the best way for Inter. Lautaro Martinez first took advantage of a favorable counter to recover the ball in the middle and serve Barella, who deceived Terracciano with an outside right (2nd). A quarter of an hour into the game, Martinez doubled the lead with a cross shot from the left and put Fiorentina under pressure (15th).

15 minutes later, a fact of the game would change the face of the meeting. Bonaventura missed his volley in the area, but Dimarco suffered a big sole on his knee at the same time. After viewing the VAR, the referee awarded a penalty to Fiorentina, transformed by Arthur Cabral (33rd). Di Marco, however, remained on the lawn, a questionable decision according to the Viola. From then on, tempers flared, and the warnings from Acerbi, Bonaventura (35th), and Dodo (38th) testified to a choppy end to the first period.

In the 2nd period, a disjointed scenario

Upon returning from the locker room, the foundations built by Inter in the first half crumbled. On the hour mark, Jonathan Ikoné allowed the Viola to equalize following a superb curling shot (60th). Came into play at the start of the match following the injury of Nicolas Gonzales (9th), the former Lille player was decisive in the performance of his team.

10 minutes later, goalkeeper Terracciano mowed down Martinez, previously served in the back of the defense, on the verge of offside. The Argentinian was responsible for converting the penalty (73rd). In an unbreathable end to the match, Fiorentina believed to knock out Inter following the header from a corner by Luka Jovic (90th). The Interists, however, showed the extent of their mental resources by once again regaining the advantage through Mkhitaryan. The Armenian took over the center of Barella at the far post to crucify the Viola (95th).

Thanks to this unexpected victory, Inter temporarily recovers to 3 points from the top 3.
