After its success last weekend against Manchester City in the Community Shield (3-1), Liverpool begins its Premier League season on Saturday with a trip to Fulham (1:30 p.m., a match to follow live on our site). Second last season, the Reds are planning the title this year and victory is already imperative in a championship where each point lost is quickly crippling.
For this trip to London, Jurgen Klopp, deprived of many players (Keita, Jota, Jones, Konaté, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Tsimikas), lines up a fairly classic team in 4-3-3 with the hinge Matip-Van Dijk and the side Alexander-Arnold and Robertson. Captain Henderson in the middle will be supported by Thiago and Fabinho. Finally, in front, Firmino is preferred to Nunez with Diaz and Salah at his side. Side Fulham, Marco Silva must compose without Chalobah and Wilson but the promoted remains faithful to 4-2-3-1. We find Rodak in the cage, preferred to Leno, or the former Lyon head in defense. The Portuguese Palhinha, the Cottagers’ flagship rookie, is the starter in the midfield. Finally, Andreas Pereira, who also arrived this summer, assessed in support of Serbian striker Mitrovic.
The official compositions:
Fulham: Rodak – Tete, Tosin, Ream, Robinson – Palhinha, Reed – De Cordova-Reid, Andreas Pereira, Kebano – Mitrovic.
Liverpool: Alisson – Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson – Fabinho, Henderson, Thiago – Salah, Firmino, Diaz
