Everything you need to know about the corgi, Elizabeth II’s favorite dog

Who is the Corgi?

The corgi is a dog originating from Great Britain. It is physically characterized by its elongated body, its rather short legs, a head resembling that of a fox. Its coat is generally sandy, black or red with white on the chest, or tricolor. Small in size, it is about 30 cm for 15 kg.

There are two kinds of corgis: the Welsh Corgi Cardigan, and the Welsh Corgi Pembroke. These two types of corgis are distinguished in particular physically by the absence of a tail in the Pembroke, and slightly smaller ears.

An excellent companion dog, the corgi is a very loyal and faithful animal that loves the presence of its masters. Very playful, it is thus an ideal companion for children. He also gets along very well with other dogs and cats.

Despite their small size, corgis are very lively and need to exert themselves well to evacuate all their energy. If this condition is met, they can absolutely live in an apartment.

Note that they may experience health problems due to their elongated backs. It will therefore be necessary to be vigilant, especially on the stairs if there are many steps.

What is the price of a corgi?

It is very important to choose the breeder from whom you will buy your puppy. A good professional will make sure to breed only animals that do not carry genetic diseases. Your puppy will therefore have to present a negative test against hereditary diseases. The breeder will also make sure that the young dogs are perfectly socialized and balanced. You will also have perfect traceability of your animal, with documents from parents and grandparents.

It will cost you from 1,500 to 2,500 euros depending on its lineage and the rarity of its color.
