Bonifazio wins the 4th stage of the Route d’Occitanie, the general for Woods

He will have his card to play on the Tour de France. In general or in the hunt for stages, that remains to be determined. But Michael Woods is in Olympic form and offered himself at 35 in the first stage race. The Canadian won the 46th edition of the Route d’Occitanie on Sunday, after making the difference the day before during the queen stage in Les Angles. The 4th and final stage is to be credited to Italian sprinter Niccolo Bonifazio who confirmed the good form of the Total Energies team after the success of Sagan in the Tour de Suisse and of Vuillermoz and Ferron in the Dauphiné.

Nairo Quintana trapped

In the general classification, the rider from the Israel Premier-Tech team is ahead of the Spaniards Carlos Rodriguez (Ineos Grenadiers) and Jesus Herrada (Cofidis), second last year.

The only Tour de France favorite to have chosen this route to prepare for the Grande Boucle, Nairo Quintana finished 6th overall. After a fall in the second stage, the Colombian from the Arkéa team was unable to follow the best in the ascent to the Angles station on Saturday.
