Nearly 300 artists came from all over Africa for Nyege Nyege, an electronic music festival held on the banks of the Nile in southeastern Uganda from Thursday 15th to Sunday 18th September. Several senior officials in the country had tried to ban the event, accused of promoting “immorality”.
But it finally turned out as planned, attracting more than 12,000 participants in four days, including many tourists, confirming the significant notoriety acquired by the festival since its creation in 2015. Suspended twice – in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid-19 – he had moved this year to a new outdoor site, that of the Itanda Falls, in Jinja. Back in pictures on this new edition of Nyege Nyege.
