Avian flu: All birds from the Ferme de Beaumont slaughtered in Eu

This is a sad first for the Beaumont Farm a EUFr Seine-Maritime. Due to the presence of the avian forcepsthe State services carried out the‘slaughter of all feathered animals in the facility.

The communication from the Ferme de Beaumont confirms this Monday, September 19, 2022: “The analyzes returned on Friday. The animals were slaughtered this weekend.”

The farm indicates that it cannot give figures. “This concerns all birds: ducks, hens, peacocks, geese, pigeons, pheasants. There is a lot of sadness and emotion today, among all the farm staff”.

“3,500 birds concerned”

The prefecture of Seine-Maritime indicates that this outbreak of avian influenza, “has been confirmed by the national reference laboratory”. The statement states: “3,500 birds of different species were affected. The farm has been cleaned and disinfected.
It is therefore a blow for the operation. But the Prefecture assures him: “State services and mainly the services of the departmental directorate for the protection of the populations of Seine-Maritime are mobilized alongside the breeder. The latter will be compensated for the losses suffered”.

A very strict protocol had been put in place when foci of bird claws were detected in Seine-Maritime and Somme.

The site closed to the public

The farm is currently closed to the public. “We continue to sell equipment and products for animals on our website, they are stored in a separate warehouse”.

La Ferme celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, having opened its doors in 1962, on the heights of the town of Eu. She is famous for all her ornamental animals. It was to organize an open house in October 2022.
