animal welfare | CIWF calls for limiting animal transport during heat waves

United Kingdom, CIWF recalls that the heat waves that have been affecting Europe since the beginning of the summer are causing difficult conditions for animals, especially for those raised indoors, with high population densities. The NGO is campaigning for animals to be transported only at night during a heat wave, and only for short periods of time in order to avoid stress due to the heat.

“The law requires transport vehicles to be equipped with ventilation to maintain temperatures below 30°C, which is impossible in very hot weather”, details CIWF in a press release. Heat stress combined with these high temperatures can be fatal to farm animals.
