A restaurateur in Sainte-Maxime now offers a sorbet for dogs

This is an idea that has dog. The restaurant Les Planches, located on one of the beaches of Sainte-Maxime, in the Var, has been offering an original sorbet for the past two weeks…since it is for our four-legged friends!

Chicken liver sorbet

Fresh chicken liver, veal jus and fish stock, here are the ingredients of the recipe created by Jean-Patrick, one of the cooks of the restaurant. “I look at the recipes that come true for a normal pâté, for animals or for us humans, then I acted as if I was making a recipe for an ordinary customer.”

There is no milk, no cream, no salt and no added sugar either. The sorbet has also been approved by the veterinarians of the town, who even shared the initiative on social networks. It is turbiné à la minute, worked with a spoon, served in a bowl with a few multicolored bone-shaped croquettes on top.

“We have a lot of customers who are with their animals”

It was Julien Delorme who had the idea, the restaurant manager. “We have many customers who are with their animals, especially dogs. They are part of the family so we said to ourselves ‘how can we please our customers who come with our pets and then it’s true that it’s very hot. We thought of making this little sorbet to provide a little extra service.”

On the price side, count five euros for a ball. “It is not given” recognizes Julien Delorme, before specifying: “we are an establishment where our average cover is between 80 and 100 euros. It is an attention that is part of the pleasure of the table, the geographical location and a certain clientele of course.”

Other recipes in preparation

A sum that is reasonable according to Nadine, who is enjoying the sun on the beach, right next to the restaurant. “It’s all the same for our little beasts, when we love these beasts, we don’t count.” Nadine has a dog and she loves the idea. It’s funny, it’s good, very good idea. It’s true that when it’s very hot, the dogs aren’t well, he asks for a drink, the shade… and that would be nice.”

Julien Delorme, the manager of the establishment adds, with humor that “it was approved by all the doggies, we had no complaints.” According to the cook, Jean-Patrick, other recipes are in preparation. Always with chicken liver, but also this time with flowers.
