Last May, an orca was found dead in the Seine, after having wandered for several days in the river, between Le Havre and Honfleur.
A new presence under surveillance. This Tuesday, an “unusual aquatic animal” was spotted in the Seine, at the level of the department of Eure, according to a press release from the prefecture.
For the moment, it is impossible to know what species it is. The prefecture speaks of an animal “of medium build”. The French Office for Biodiversity is still identifying it, with the help of firefighters.
Surveillance is piling up
“This animal is currently evolving in a shallow area”, explain the state services.
They ask the population not to go into contact with him or not to try to approach him. Indeed, this could “emphasize his confusion” and decrease his chances of survival. The area has been placed under surveillance.
